TOHealth! and Partners have been busy showing International delegates the vibrancy of the Toronto Region Health Cluster and all that this city has to offer foreign businesses.
On Sept 24, 2018 a member of TOHealth! gave a presentation about the growth and expansion of the Toronto Region Health Cluster to a group of Vietnamese delegates (17 delegates from 14 companies).
That same week, Dutch Life Sciences & Health Mission came to Toronto on Sept 26, 2018 and received a tour of MaRS along with presentations talking about the collaborations and advancements at MaRS. From there the delegates went to the Centre for Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine (CCRM) and later they were given a tour of JLabs @Toronto.
The 21st TCI Network Global Conference took place in Toronto in October this year. The tour involved examining the topic of Health Care Innovation to Commercialization and exploring the cluster in action at JLabs @Toronto, CCRM, University Health Network, ONRamp and Ryerson. An interactive discussion involved exploring the factors that lead to building a healthy innovation cluster. Delegates came into Toronto for this innovative conference from Mexico, Netherlands, Sweden, USA, UK, Germany and Colombia. It was a successful coming together of representatives from international cluster groups.
TOHealth! was excited to bring a delegate of enterprising health tech companies from Europe as part of the EIT Health Go Global Canada 2018. EIT Health and Medicen (Paris region’s health innovation cluster) brought 8 selected biotech companies to visit and meet with the eco-system in Toronto and Montreal in October, 2018. In Toronto the delegates were able to ask and explore what it would be like to grow their businesses in the Toronto region. They were able to see the iDAPT Centre at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, be able to learn about financing at the Great Debate at JLabs, and also went on tours of MaRS and Womens College Hospital. In depth presentations were given by Inbound Missions Dept at Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, and an overview of the Life Sciences Industry was given by the Ontario Investment Office. TOHealth, Toronto Global and Digital Health Canada also presented to the group of delegates.
